Carabidae of the World

Oodini is a ground beetle tribe in the subfamily Harpalinae.[1][2] Oodines are found worldwide (with highest diversity in tropical Africa) and are generally associated with standing water.[3] This tribe contains approximately 300 species arrayed in 32 genera.[1] Beetles in Oodini are distinguishable from other members of Carabidae by a combination of two characters: a laterally coadunate metepisternum (a feature of the exoskeleton), and an elytral ridge formed by the fusion of intervals 7 and 8.[4]
