Type locality: "a pond 4.5 miles (7.2 km) northeast of Navios (Navios ca. 23° 54´ N, 105° 03´ W), 8000 ft (2438 m), Durango, Mexico".

Vernacular names
English: Durango Salamander

The Durango salamander or pine woods salamander, Ambystoma silvense, is a mole salamander. It is endemic to Mexico where it is found in the Durango and Chihuahua states. Its habitats include ponds, shallow lakes, and pine-oak forests.[1]
