Australia Rufous Bristlebirds are not listed as threatened on the Australian Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Victoria * The Rufous Bristlebird (including both subspecies occurring in Victoria) is listed as threatened on the Victorian Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act (1988).[1] Under this Act, an Action Statement for the recovery and future management of this species has been prepared.[2] * On the 2007 advisory list of threatened vertebrate fauna in Victoria, both subspecies of the Rufous Bristlebird that occur within the state are separately listed as near threatened.[3] This includes the Coorong subspecies (Dasyornis broadbenti broadbenti) and the Otways subspecies (D. b. caryochrous). Western Australia * The Western Australian subspecies D. b. litoralis (Milliagan, 1902), formerly found in coastal habitat between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin, is considered to be critically endangered.
