Holotype: BMNH 1908.10.27.99.

Type locality: Rhoades, Lake Malawi [Lake Nyasa], southeastern Africa.

Otopharynx argyrosoma is a species of fish in the Cichlidae family.

It is found in Malawi, Mozambique, and Tanzania. Its natural habitat is freshwater lakes. It is not considered a threatened species by the IUCN.
