Apollonias Nees Hufeland. Ill. 10. (1833)

Type species: Apollonias canariensis (Willd.) Nees (1833) vide Apollonias barbujana (Cav.) Bornm.

Note: "Persea can be retained as a genus by the inclusion of Apollonias barbujana" {Li et al., 2011), A. arnottii will probably group with an Asian genus, such as Machilus or Phoebe (Li et al., 2011 & Rohwer et al., 2009)

Apollonias is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the laurel family, Lauraceae. The genus includes from one to 10 species of evergreen trees and shrubs, depending on circumscription; recent studies have limited the genus to just one species, with the others transferred to Beilschmiedia.[1][2]
