Type genus: Iochroma Benth., Edwards's Bot. Reg. 31: ad t. 20, (1845) nom. cons.

Note: The subtribe is monophyletic (Smith & Baum, 2006), however it has been difficult to circumscribe monophyletic genera and to achieve this it may be best to render the tribe monotypic under Iochroma s.l. (Deanna et al., 2019 & Gates, Pilson & Smith, 2018). However, the above circumscription is the best attempt at generic monophyly to date sensu Smith (2018) and Deanna et al., (2019).
