Laxmanniaceae is the botanical name of a monocot family of flowering plants in the order Asparagales, more recently reduced to the subfamily Lomandroideae of the family Asparagaceae.[1] The family name is derived from the generic name of the type genus, Laxmannia. The family has only been recognized by a few taxonomists. In the Kubitzki system, it is treated as Lomandraceae Lotsy.[2]

The APG II system did not recognize this family as such, but allowed it to be optionally segregated from the family Asparagaceae. The APG III system of 2009 does not allow this segregation. The group consists of some 15 genera and about 180 species from Australasia, southeast Asia, the Americas and the Pacific Islands. The best known genus is Cordyline.
