Note: This genus is often found subsumed into Silene L. (1753) (Tropicos, 2017). However, Popp et al. (2008) and Greenberg & Donoghue (2011) found the above circumscription monophyletic. The relationship is ambiguous and will depend on work that needs to be undertaken on Silene and it relatives (Hernández-Ledesma et al., 2015).
