Ronald Vernon Book (April 1937 – May 28, 1997 in Santa Barbara, California) worked in theoretical computer science. He published more than 150 papers in scientific journals. He gave many talks at the following conferences:

STOC (Annual ACM Symposium on Theory of Computing)
FOCS (Annual IEEE Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science)
ICALP (International Colloquium on Automata, Languages and Programming sponsored by the European Association of Theoretical Computer Science)
MFCS (International Symposium on Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science)

His papers are of great impact for computational complexity theory and term rewriting.
