Ramphotrigon is a genus of tyrant flycatchers in the family Tyrannidae.
Species
Established in 1872 by George Robert Gray, it contains four species:[1]
Image | Common Name | Scientific name | Distribution |
---|---|---|---|
Large-headed flatbill | Ramphotrigon megacephalum | Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela. | |
Flammulated flycatcher | Ramphotrigon flammulatum | south and southwest Mexico | |
Rufous-tailed flatbill | Ramphotrigon ruficauda | Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela | |
Dusky-tailed flatbill | Ramphotrigon fuscicauda | Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. |
The name Ramphotrigon is a combination of the Greek words rhamphos, meaning "bill" and trigonōn, meaning "triangle".[2]
