Vernacular names
English: greasebush

Glossopetalon is a small genus of shrubs in the plant family Crossosomataceae. These plants are sometimes called greasebushes. They are native to the western United States and northern Mexico, where they can be found on dry mountain slopes. These are small shrubs with thorny, tangling branches and white flowers. It continues to be the subject of a dispute about whether its proper name is Forsellesia or Glossopetalon.[1]

Species include:

Glossopetalon clokeyi - Clokey's greasebush
Glossopetalon pungens - dwarf greasebush
Glossopetalon spinescens - spiny greasebush
Glossopetalon spinescens var. planitierum - plains greasebush (syn. Glossopetalon planitierum) [2]
Glossopetalon texense - Texas greasebush
