Otopharynx heterodon (Trewavas, 1935)

Lectotype: BMNH 1935.6.14.1586. [Paralectotypes: BMNH 1935.6.14.1584-85 (2), 1935.6.14.1587-1591 (6), 1935.6.14.1592 (1); MNHN 1937-0204 (ex BMNH) (1)]. Lectotype designated by Eccles & Trewavas, 1989:158.

Type locality: Monkey Bay, Lake malawi.

English: Royal Blue Hap

The Royal Blue Hap (Otopharynx heterodon) is a species of fish in the Cichlidae family. C. heterodon is a sedimentary feeder growing up to 12.8 cm (5 in) in size.[1]

It is found in Malawi, Mozambique, and Tanzania. Its natural habitat is freshwater lakes.
