It is monotypic within Deconychura, but formerly this genus also included the Spot-throated Woodcreeper.[1] The Long-tailed Woodcreeper is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.
